What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle energy practice that helps rebalance your body’s energy centres (chakras) and support your natural healing process.
During a session, you’ll lie down fully clothed in my quiet, comfortable treatment space while I use gentle touch—or hold my hands just above the body—to guide your natural energy flow. It can help soothe an overactive mind, ease stored stress, and allow your body the opportunity to settle into a state of deep, restorative rest.
Think of it as a quiet reset button for your energy—allowing you the space to let go of what’s heavy and reconnect with your inner calm. 🌿
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Reiki is a non-invasive, Japanese energy practice that encourages balance in mind body and spirit.
-
Before we begin, you’ll complete a brief consultation form to share any relevant medical history and discuss what has brought you to the Reiki session. You'll then lie fully clothed on the therapy bed while I offer Reiki with gentle touch or hands-off work (dependent on your preference). At the end of the session, there will be time to discuss your experience and anything that may have come up for you.
-
No; Reiki works through clothing, casts, or bandages, so you always stay dressed and comfortable. Shoes are removed when lying on the therapy bed however.
-
Everyone experiences Reiki differently. Some people feel deeply relaxed, while others may notice gentle warmth, tingling, or pulsing. You might see subtle colours, or feel and see nothing at all. You may simply enjoy a quiet period of rest—and even fall asleep! There is no 'right' way to feel; your body will simply take whatever rest and balance it needs from the Reiki.
-
Everyone’s journey differs and this depends on what you are hoping for from Reiki. As a natural healing method it is good to allow plenty of time for Reiki to have an effect, so a series of treatments is going to be more beneficial than a single treatment in most cases. However some people feel one session is enough. We can discuss this in your session and if further sessions may be required.
-
Yes; Reiki is a completely safe, non-invasive complementary holistic therapy. If you have concerns about whether Reiki is appropriate for you, particularly in relation to a health condition or treatment, speak with a qualified medical professional. Reiki should not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
